Frequently asked questions
How often should you feed kittens?
Kittens have small stomachs but very high energy requirements. That's why you should feed them much more frequently than adult cats. From around 2 months of age, when they are eating wet food exclusively, they need 4–5 small meals per day. At around 3–4 months, 3–4 meals are often sufficient, and from 6 months onwards, many kittens do well with 2–3 meals. It is important that your kitten eats regularly and gets enough energy for its growth.
How much wet food does a kitten need per day?
The right amount of cat food for kittens depends on their age, activity level, and individual growth. Our feeding table at the top of the page serves as a guide: it shows you how much wet food is recommended per day.
When can a kitten start eating wet food?
Kittens can be introduced to high-quality wet food from as early as 4 to 5 weeks of age. It is important that the food is finely minced and easily digestible – this is exactly what special wet food for kittens such as catz finefood® CLASSIC Kitten offers. This range is optimally tailored to the needs of growing cats and ensures that all their nutritional requirements are met.
How do I switch my kitten's food correctly?
If you want to change your kitten's cat food, you should do so gradually. Over a period of 5–7 days, mix more and more of the new food into the old food. This will allow your kitten's digestion to adjust properly. A gentle transition helps to protect the stomach and ensures that your kitten accepts the new food better.
